The Democratic Convention Tonight

Sharon Cobb - 0 sec ago
A little birdie told me Bruce Springsteen will show up this evening and appear after Barack Obama speaks.

That aside, here's what's happening this evening:

On Thursday night, the DNCC will throw open the doors of the Convention and move to INVESCO Field at Mile High so that more Americans can be a part of the fourth night of the Convention as Barack Obama accepts the Democratic nomination. Obama will communicate the urgency of the moment, highlight the struggles Americans are facing and call on Americans to come together to change the course of our nation.

Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, Jr. will address the Convention on Thursday night.

How About That Beau Biden?

Sharon Cobb - 1 min 23 sec ago
Wednesday evening, Joe Biden's son Beau Biden introduced his father.
What can you say about a son who is right out of central casting and loves his father and country?

Beau Biden is off to Iraq. I can't even type that without crying. So many politicians have children who have avoided the war, and our next Vice President has a son who is off to Iraq.

Our next vice president, Joe Biden, already lost a wife and and daughter who died in the early 70s. Beau Biden, along with his brother were in that car, and Joe Biden had already been elected but not sworn in for his first term in the Senate 36 years ago.

Beau said his father said to him at his hospital bed, "Delaware can get another Senator, but you can't get another father." OH boy...the tears they rolled and rolled from my eyes, Michelle Obama's eyes and just about everyone in the convention's eyes.

As destiny would have it, he wouldn't leave his son's side, so he was sworn in at his son's bedside.

I think that says all we need to know about Joe Biden. The rest is details.

Please Join Both Sides Of the Aisle In Asking What Their Plan Is To Stop The Genocide In Darfur. Join New Facebook Site

Sharon Cobb - 12 min 23 sec ago

The Massachusetts Coalition to Save Darfur has launched a new Facebook page designed to encourage the US presidential candidates to tell voters their Darfur plan BEFORE the election. Our goal is to grow to 100,000 members. By doing so, we will demonstrate to the candidates and to the press corps that Darfur is an issue that deserves frequent and specific attention on the campaign trail. We are now working to quickly ratchet up the numbers and need your help.

We hope that this page will be joined by people from around the world so that the candidates see that the international community cares about their stand on this issue.

For those of you with a Facebook profile, we hope you will become a "fan," use the “share” button to post to your profile, and send the page to your friends. Here is the link:

from Mia Farrow:
We need to pressure UNAMID to get their act together and PROTECT. And shame on everybody for caving and accepting conditions that would produce a force that will never do anything. Where was UNAMID this week while Kalma camp was being attacked? Where are they NOW while aid workers are blocked from entering?? Why cant 9000 guys protect two camps? Eufor is doing great work in CAR and eastern Chad with a fraction of that number. (1,800 deployed now)

The whole world should fortify UNAMID. Whatever it takes. We should override Bashir and provide a force that can protect people. I know that wont happen but shame on everyone.
