Nichols to appoint special prosecutor

WATE:: Independent prosecutor to investigate Knox Co. finances

MORE: WBIR, KNS, SnM...

A little understated isn't it?

I can't help but wonder if Bill Haslam was the subject of the same charges. I know at least one certified poster here that would raise hell.

What is it with the coverage of Ragsdale on KnoxViews? The Sentinel takes it pretty easy on Ragsdale but why would KnoxViews? Does reading to children give someone a pass?

This isn't just an observation about Randy. What is it about Ragsdale that suppresses outrage here? What does this man have to do? He is by far the worst public servant in the last 38 years in this county.

I do not understand the progressive mind.

What is it with the coverage

What is it with the coverage of Ragsdale on KnoxViews?

We will note the irony that you have commented on a post linking to three news reports re. a special prosecutor being appointed to investigate Ragsdale's office and Knox Co. finances and meetings with the DA re. his ouster (plus one satire poking fun at the whole sorry affair), complaining about the coverage.

What is it about Ragsdale that suppresses outrage here?

Well, besides the fact that one poster in particular seems to have a pathological need to veer the conversation off topic and wreck any discussions of actual issues and stuff, most of the torch and pitchfork crowd has gone over to the KNS site to "discuss" it. Which suits me fine. Not very much of "the outrage" is productive, or about the issues.

The outrage made history

Not very much of "the outrage" is productive, or about the issues.

So that would mean it was productive. Ragsdale will face a special prosecutor.

I agree with the last post,

I agree with the last post, get a clue. You seem to fit in better over at knoxnews. You can rant and rave over there all day long and others feed off of it. It isn't productive and it becomes very exhausting reading the same diatribes day after day after day. Sorry, but you asked.

I won't speak for others

I won't speak for others here, but here's my thing: I think Ragsdale has made a colossal hash out of his job. But a lot of what makes new is accounts of County Commission bashing him. Since I think Commission has made and continues to make just as much a colossal hash out of their jobs, it's hard to speak without sounding like I'm endorsing the behavior of folks like Lumpy, Grumpy, and Scoobie.

A pox on all their houses is prety much my attitude.

(See this excellent post by Larry Van Guilder.)

Then there's your continual Ragsdale bashing - some of it unhinged. To put it bluntly, nobody wants to jump on the bandwagon with you.

We read to kids, such that all is well

If Cynthia Finch read to school kids, she'd still be making $125,000 a year, living large at Club LeConte, flying all over the country to do sorority stuff.

If Jake Butcher read to school kids, Knoxville would be the financial center of the south, much bigger than Charlotte or Atlanta.

we're sick of hearing you

we're sick of hearing you rant about it, nine. get a clue.

Ranting

Will I am not tired of Nine rantng, more Knox Countians should be ranting and maybe we would have been rid of Ragsdale months ago.

As for County Commissioners, they have not stolen or misappropriated any Knox County funds. Who cares if they talk amoungst themselves, as Ragsdale says "that's how business is done, at the end of the day look at the results"

Maybe the commissioners should have read to the children!

Who cares if they talk

Who cares if they talk amoungst themselves

Chancellor Fansler and a lot of voters, judging by the results of February's primary.

Who Cares

I did not see a lot of citizens up in arms over county commission. Just one cockie newpaper guys with an agenda to change commission because he lost at the ballot box!

There is a good bit of

There is a good bit of negative commentary concerning the County Mayor, though Randy often puts a positive spin on some of the Mayor's troubles.

Maybe the 'lack of outrage' is because most of Knoxviews posters who live in Knox County also live inside the Knoxville city limits. And, seeing as how they have a terrific Mayor, they pay attention to some other things and don't get all outraged over the County Mayor's troubles, even though county government does effect them too.

Likewise, many Knoxviews posters live outside Knox County altogether, including the KV board chairman himself. Some regular posters live in other parts of Tennessee and even other parts of the country. Though it may make for some interesting reading for them, outrage posts may not be tops on their list.

Thanks CBT

I had wondered about where people live and how that affected their perception. The pox on all of them is another consideration.

It was a historic day. For the first time in Knox County history a County Mayor is the subject of two investigations by an outside DA.

It seemed to be worth more than seventeen words and three hyperlinks. That is curiously understated.

Having seen hundreds of words written about Bill Haslam on KnoxViews in a primary post this is curious. Haslam is a likable guy. I may not agree with everything he has done but I don't see corruption in City government. I still have doubts about some of the big projects that are still unfunded. But Bill Haslam has taken it in the shorts on KnoxViews.

So why does the nice guy get beat up and the Snidely Whiplash guy get easy treatment?

Is another reason the person issues? Heaven forbid that Ragsdale get the treatment George Bush gets here.

I find this interesting from a blogging stand point. While some may see the people who post at the Sentinel as rude or obsessive, at least they give a damn.

Anyone else want to contribute why this is a non event even though history was made today albeit in a very negative way?

It won't lead to anything...

just Nichols getting Hutch's minions off his back. This will drag on until Ragsdale's term is up.

Are we too smart to digress here?

Given the whole Wesley Clark fiasco this week, the left just doesn't get it.

When they're down, don't walk away. Keep kicking...and kicking, and kicking.

Even if he's right (Wesley Clark), let the right keep kicking. The left backs off and lets him sink.

Ragsdale's forcast should be rain, hail, fire and brimestone. Today, tomorrow, etc, etc....

Unfortunately, if he stays hunkered down long enough, the sun will shine again because someone on the right will step up and defend him and the left will give up and go home.
